Lower Back Pain Remedies

Lower back pain can be not just frustrating, but also a hindrance on everyday life. Even just sitting in the car in traffic can cause discomfort and pain. This lower back pain can be the result of issues like a herniated disc, muscle fatigue from over exertion, bad posture, or flat feet. At Cobb Pain and Rehab we provide low back pain treatment to help our clients overcome lower back pain issues. We are one of the leading providers in Atlanta for aiding in lower back pain. Additionally, here are some at-home remedies for helping with lower back pain:

  • Ice and heat. Once the pain appears, apply ice to it for 20 minutes, for several days. Then try applying a heating pad or heating agent to the lower back to help increase muscle relaxation. Be careful not to sleep on a heating pad as this can cause serious burns.
  • Upgrading to a firmer mattress. Softer mattresses may contort the body in unsupported way during sleep, causing muscle strain, resulting in lower back pain. The firmer mattress supports the lower back against this and helps keep the body in a natural, linear position.
  • Monitor your posture. Bad posture can be the cause of the lower back pain as it moves the body out of the linear position and causes unnecessary muscle strain. Try looking in a mirror to see how your posture is when sitting cross legged. Make the necessary corrections to straighten up the back.
  • Over the counter pain relief. Ibuprofen may help to relieve pain moving to an area, but this is supplemental to other treatments and may not have recognizable benefits.

At Cobb Pain and Rehab, we are dedicated to helping you and finding the treatment for lower back pain. Check out our low back pain and chiropractic services and come in to talk to us today!
