Why is the Neck Susceptible to Injury in Auto Accidents?

Posted By Cobb Pain & Rehab || 30-Sep-2016

When a vehicle is subjected to an unexpected and severe impact, the force and shock can cause a neck injury called “whiplash.”

The symptoms of whiplash may include moderate to severe neck pain, stiffness, and sometimes headaches. Often, these symptoms disappear over time, but in many cases the symptoms persist, indicating more severe injuries.

The neck is made up of vertebrae that go from the head to the torso. Along with bones, ligaments and muscles, the neck supports the head and the body’s mobility. Injury or inflammation anywhere in the neck or back area could seriously affect mobility.

Although we have a fairly wide range of movement, injuries commonly result from accidents like a fall at work, a tackle or fall while playing sports, or an auto accident.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as muscle strain, pressure on some nerve trauma, an abnormality in the joints or bone, or pain from tendinitis or poor posture, you need to see a specialist.

At Cobb Pain & Rehab, our team is highly experienced in treating neck injuries. Using holistic techniques, we personalize a course of treatment for each patient. Holistic medicine is a drug-free treatment method that focuses not only on the symptoms, but their underlying causes in order to help the patient achieve whole-body wellness.
